Winning on the clutch..

Posted by sparklemag on August 19, 2008

The boys play in a YMCA league and until yesterday there record was 0-8.   They ended up winning both games to get them in the championships.  The last game was tied with 7 seconds left and the youngest kid on the team hit a shot to win it!  I wish I would of got a pic but I was way too into the game.  I was so proud!  And the old man played the best he had played all season!

Anthony’s Bday!

Posted by sparklemag on August 19, 2008

My godchild Anthony’s birthday at Chuck E Cheese.

Anthony and Noelle stuck in a bubble…

Bet you didn’t know Andy Warhold did a portrait of Charles E?

It was before he formally changed his name to Chuck.

Largest rocking horse I’ve EVER seen!

Something to pass the time…

Posted by sparklemag on August 19, 2008

The old man and I found something to do together..

Sometimes our work schedules don’t match.  So we left the puzzle on the table and would do bits and pieces as we passed by.  It’s cool to come home and see that he had done some when I was gone and I would do the same when he was gone.  And then we would sit down together and work on it.

It took us a couple of days but we finished it.

Battle of the Bone!

Posted by sparklemag on August 15, 2008

Ever since we were little my little bro could sop down the fleshy of a chicken wing like no one I have EVER seen.  When he was eleven he got his first frier and when he got into high school the hangout was always a sports bar for wings.  So I HAD to enter him in BATTLE OF THE BONE, a chicken wing eating contest sponsored by Native New York and 1060 am.  They had eleven minutes or “10 minutes 60 seconds” (clever…) to eat as much as they could.  Well, out of 30 the little guy got …in his FIRST EVER contest..4th!  I was so proud..tear.  The judges said that the top six were the best they had seen at ANY location.  So needless to say if he had entered somewhere else he probably would have won.

Jardin!

Posted by sparklemag on August 13, 2008

My garden is bloomin!  Well, at least some of it is…

The cucumbers are overflowing!  Def. planting these next year!

Notice the dead tomato plant next to it…

I got these bad boys and one more and a tiny on the way.

Basil                                                      Bell Pepper

The basil has been pretty consistent but the bell is growing but nothing yet.

The bell is not as plush as the basil.

J.K.’s New Book!

Posted by sparklemag on August 1, 2008

“In December 2007, J.K. Rowling unveiled The Tales of Beedle the Bard, a very special book of five fairy tales illustrated by the bard herself, embellished with silver ornaments and mounted moonstones. Amazon was fortunate to come into possession of one of the original copies, and it was our privilege to share images and reviews of this incredible artifact. Now J.K. Rowling is giving millions of Harry Potter fans worldwide cause for celebration with a new edition of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, available December 4, 2008.”-Amazon

I am HUGE J.K. fan and will most likely buy anything she’ll produce in the future.

Needless to say I am so excited for this book!

Inspiration…Rose O’Neill

Posted by sparklemag on August 1, 2008

I’ve never been a huge fan of Kewpies but I guess that was because I didn’t know the full story behind them.  Now, I believe, I am quite fascinated with them.  A Kewpies sole purpose is to bring happiness to people in a funny way.  What a wonderful way to live.  There are dozens of Kewpies and they all are different with different jobs.  What is more interesting than the Kewpies themselves is their creator Rose O’Neill.  She was an exceptional woman who was eccentric, to say the least.  She did things not acceptable at her time and lived her life on her terms which I find so inspiring.

Here is some artwork from Rose…(I must say I love the Un-Kewpie illustrations much more)

Yes, I believe I have a new obsession.

Fabe’s All Natural Bakery…

Posted by sparklemag on August 1, 2008

Fabe’s All Natural Bakery

This company has really yummy cookies.  I tried the Oatmeal Raisin and the Macaroons.  This brand is great because I am allergic to most packaged foods.  These are made with all natural sweetners and there are no preservatives or chemicals.  And…the Oatmeal Raisin cookies were the BEST I’ve ever had!  You can buy them at Sprouts and Whole Foods.
